A new Tesco Lotus Superstore will be opened on August 31st, 2007 on the road to Krabi International Airport and thus, only about 20 km from Ao Nang. The opening was origionaly scheduled for August 12th, but had to be delayed for some unknown reason. Local businesses made hefty protests when first rumors came up about the planing of the Store but were in vain. Lotus Superstores are already located in every bigger town all over thailand, only Krabi was still a black spot on the map. The opening will hopefully set an end to increased prices which hotels, restaurants and privat people had to pay in Krabi stores. |

Ao Nang's well known Dive Center "Aqua Vision" has moved. The new location is now at the other side of the beach, about 400 metres up the hill, next to the Siam Comercial Bank and the President Hotel and opposite the "Diver's Inn Restaurant". The move marks the same development like in Phuket a few years ago, when the dive centers didn't want to pay the enormous rent at the beach front anymore and moved to the second road, were the rent of buildings is a little cheaper. The disadvantage of the new location might be a little less "walk in customers" but customers who know the owners and the service will find them at the new location anyway. And there is still the Internet: www.aqua-vision.net |

Same procedures as every year! Songkran is over and all tourists are back home and working so Ao Nang gets quiet.Over the past few days, some tropical depressions has caused a lot of rain falls in southern Thailand with storm warnings, floodings and so on. Maybe a bit too heavy for this time of the year. Low season in Ao Nang also means constructions in Ao Nang! This time the well known Orchid Bungalows are beeing partially destroyed to give space for a new Hotel with 53 rooms and swimming pool but also 13 Bungalows, which will be the old onces but completely refurbished. |
