The Thai government’s Coastal Resource Management Unit in Ao Nam Mao, about 5 km from Ao Nang on the way to the Fossil Shell Cementery in currently undergoing a major revamp. The centre breeds endangered species in large salt water lakes next to the coast, for research and conservation most fish are eventually released back into the sea in order to boost local populations. Visitors were able to see rare creatures such as leopard sharks and black tip reef sharks, as well as turtles, different species of angel and clown fish and giant groupers. Right now, most of the saltwater lakes are empty and the station is undergoing an 8.5 Mill Baht renovation to attract more visitors in the future. The 750 metres long of walkways over the water are put on proper concrete pillers and will be roofed to allow visitors to view the species in seperated pools below. The center is to be reopened in April this year and entrance fee will be about 20,- Baht. |

It has been exactly one year since a French film team shot just another version of "Treasure Island" from Robert Louis Stevenson from the year 1882/83. This time it's a German film team from German TV channel "PRO7" who shoots yet another version. The first movie came out in 1912 and has since beeing shot about 17 times in different versions. The German team is obveously also using the same places for their shooting, which enabled us to find the actual treasure which it is all about, already. |

Tomorrow beginns for the Chinese a new year, the "Year Of The Pig". For Ao Nang and Thailand that means great (chinese) festivals, mostly arround Chinese Temples and closed shops and offices until Monday. Noparatthara Beach will be packed once again with hundreds or thousands of "Thai- holidaymakers" for a few days.
Some famous chinese Fortunetellers anounced for the upcomming year big trouble, fights, fires and or maybe explosions. Another Fortuneteller who already saw the North Korean nuklear bomb Test in advance, said that in this year also North Korean leader Kim Jong II would lose his power. 60 years ago in 1947 when there was the same constellation and also a "Year Of The Pig", America & Russia started their nuklear competition and the cold war.

We are going to move this website to a new Domain name (www.aonang-info.com) which is already available so you may want to update your bookmarks now. For the final move however, it is necessary to download and safe al files & database of this website to our computer, but we still experience heavy problems with our DSL connection due to the earthquake in Taiwan on December 26th, 2006 wich destroyed 3 important internet cables on the seabed, so it may take some more time until it's done. In the meantime we have uploaded almost 100 pictures from the Green Spirit Psychodelic Trance Event that took place over 3 days, from Dec. 31st, 2006 till Jan. 1st, 2007 our Ao Nang Gallery II.Click here to go directly the pictures.
