The use of helmets for all drivers of motor bikes was introduced in Thailand already some years ago. But in places like Ao Nang or Noparatthara it was common practice not to wear helmets most of the time and only use them when driving into Krabi Town. This will change now. Traffic Police in Ao Nang will start to check drivers for helmets and offenders will be charged between 100 and 300,- Baht. The problem is, that the money must be paid at the main Police Station in Krabi Town and the Traffic Police in Ao Nang will retain motorbike and licence until the money is paid and you can present a proper receipt. Also new, particulary for Thais is the fact, that all motorbikes must use the light now also during the day time.
