Same procedures as every year, Songkran in Ao Nang. Songkran is the official "Thai New Year" and the begin of the rainy season. Traditionally, people will splash each other with water on this day but in areas with tourists, that must be some extra fun. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of Thai people load their pickup trucks with huge water tanks and friends and drive to Ao Nang, to join the water war. The police declares the Main Road in Ao Nang a One Way Road, all the way fromt the big junction in the old village to Nopparattara Beach. So every body who wants to join the water splashing with cars, must drive for about 15 km to go once around. Traffic stuck up today already at about 10 am this morning, just after the police blocked the traffic out of the village and declared the one way road.
