The international Airport in Krabi was newly build in 1998 -1999 and finaly opened in July 1999. It is located on the Highway Route 4 on the way to Trang about 10 km outside of Krabi Town and 25 km from Ao Nang. Koh Lanta is 65 km from the airport.
Airport Transfer:
Tourists travelling on package tour might already have organized their transfer to the hotel either by the hotel or their tour company. Others will have to take a taxi or mini van to their desired destination.
Taxi fares may range from 350,-. Baht to Krabi Town up to 900,- Baht to Tupkaek Beach. The trip to Ao Nang is 600,- Baht.
Taxi services have to be prepaid at the counter in the arrival hall. Unauthorised or public taxis are nor allowed to sercice incommig passengers.
Car Rental at the Airport:
Car rental is also available at Krabi Airport. Some international firms such as Avis, Budget or National haver their booth in the arrival hall. It's a good idea to book their service online to get better rates.
Other Sevices at the Airport:
Insinde the airport building you will find an information desk, hotel reservation service, money exchange, ATM machines, car rental, few souvenier & flower shops and a restaurant.
Airline offices are on the second floor above the departure area.
Airlines serving Krabi Airport:
Some Airlines, such as Nok Air, OneTwoGo, PB Air and even Budget Carrier Tiger Airways from Singapore have recently stoped their flight services to Krabi and some other Thai Airports due to rising fuel costs and a decreasing number of passengers. We have to see if they will resume their flights as the season picks up.
